The Trotsky
Monday, November 8, 7pm, Coolidge Corner Theatre
Director: Jacob Tierney, USA, 2009, 113 min.
Leon Bronstein (Jay Baruchel; THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE, KNOCKED UP) is not your average Montreal West high school student: he claims to be the reincarnation of Leon Trotsky. When his father (Saul Rubinek) sends Leon to public school as punishment for starting a hunger strike at Papa’s clothing factory, Leon quickly lends new meaning to the term “student union,” determined as he is to change the world. A comedy starring a staple of the Judd Apatow gang, The Trotsky serves smart jokes laced with cultural commentary.
